The Environment
What type of environment does it take to make a relationship work? Simple – mutuality – agreement on a common goal. Much like the indelible statement that American was built on, “united we stand”, relationships must have an environment of unity to work. It doesn’t matter if your goal is to be a friend, make the company a success, win the game or eventually get married, being in agreement on your goal is the first step in moving forward towards success.
Does that mean that you will always agree on everything on the way? Absolutely not! However when you have a common goal, a predetermined direction, then you have the ability to navigate the most tumultuous storms relationships can bring and still reach your ultimate goal – even if the agreed goal changes.
God, who is omnipotent, will not force someone to have a relationship with him. It must be a decision made by the person. In the same light, we can not force someone to have a relationship with us – it must be their decision and the mutual goal. Understanding this simple concept can save immeasurable time on a relationship. The ability to avert wasted time in a relationship that lacks mutuality, enables you to enjoy more time in a relationship built to last.
